How we Got Here

Railway Roots Night is, from December 2015, held in the newly-refurbished Railway Inn in Boundary Road, Portslade BN41 1GA - right by the station, which is very handy if you don't live within walking distance.

We started out in September 2008 as the Hove Folk Club in the Eclipse, which then became the Poets' Corner, in Montgomery Street, Hove. But we don't predominately focus on folk (if by that you understand traditional songs), we cover all kinds of other music. And we are certainly not a club - we welcome first-timers just as warmly as long-term regulars.

So the change of venue, from the Poets' Corner to the Railway Inn, was a golden opportunity to change our name to something more appropriate, and to re-start in a blaze of energy and music to suit all tastes. If you used to come to the old Hove Folk Club, make sure you come to our new venue; if you haven't tried us yet, come and see what we are all about!
